Members of the Assembly of North Macedonia voted with 69 votes in favour and none against to elect eight new ministers into the reshuffled government of North Macedonia.
The session, which concluded late last night, was walked out of prior to the vote by MPs from the SDSM, DUI, and the Alliance for Albanians, Euronews reports.
Jeton Shasivari, a member of VREDI, was elected as the new Minister of Justice; Borče Serafimovski from the ZNAM Movement as the new Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy; Agon Ferati from VREDI as the new Minister of Inter-Community Relations; Sašo Klekovski from VMRO-DPMNE as the new Minister of Health; Sedat Sulejmani from VREDI as the new Minister of Tourism and Culture; Gjoko Velkovski from VMRO-DPMNE as the new Minister of Social Policy, Demographics and Youth; Ivan Stoilković from the DPSM as the new Minister of Local Self-Government; and Erdžan Demir from VMRO-DPMNE as the new Minister without Portfolio.
Immediately before the vote, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski emphasised that he was satisfied with the choice of the new ministers, as well as with those they had cooperated with so far, and those who were not subject to the reshuffle.
"I am glad to have this parliamentary majority, which has so far passed many reform laws - something that, indeed, the European Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos also highlighted publicly during her last visit to us. I even think it was a statement that caught many off guard in a negative way, but it was positive for the citizens and the country. And I believe that both as a parliamentary majority and as a cabinet, we can achieve a great deal together in the period ahead," Mickoski said.
A heated debate took place during the session, with MPs from the SDSM, DUI, and the Alliance for Albanians sharply criticising and insulting the candidates, particularly IvanStoilković.
