The Government of Serbia has adopted a decree aligning the national customs tariff for this year with the Combined Nomenclature of the European Union and relevant international agreements.

The Decree on aligning the 2025 customs tariff also includes preferential customs rates and import quotas, including provisions of the Free Trade Agreement with the Arab Republic of Egypt, which will enter into force on 1 September 2025.

"This enables the transparent and timely classification of goods in accordance with Serbia’s legal and contractual obligations," the statement reads.

EU Acquis

The government has also adopted a Conclusion approving amendments to the National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis (NPAA) for the period 2024–2027, aligning deadlines set out in the plan for fulfilling Serbia’s key obligations in the EU accession negotiations by the end of 2026.

"The new deadlines and priorities have been adopted to ensure the timely fulfilment of obligations in the accession process and the closure of negotiating chapters by the end of 2026," the statement emphasised.

The document precisely defines measures, competent institutions, the pace of alignment, and implementation capacities, tailored to individual chapters and a quarterly schedule. The consolidated version of the NPAA was adopted on 24 October 2024 and is available in the electronic application for monitoring the European integration process.

Flood protection

The government has adopted the Decree on establishing the General Flood Protection Plan, which enables the continuation of organised flood protection in Serbia in accordance with the Water Law and other regulations. It also sets out the organisational structure for flood protection, with designated entities and a leadership hierarchy. The decree has been adopted to ensure organised, controlled, and efficient flood protection, as well as to prevent threats to human life and property from the harmful effects of floods.

Gender equality in local self-governments

The government has also adopted a Conclusion approving the Financial Support Programme for implementing gender equality policies in local self-government units in 2025. As emphasised, one of the Serbian government’s core objectives is systemic support for the implementation of gender equality policy.

The programme relates to strengthening the institutional and organisational capacities of local self-governments for planning, financing, and implementing policies and programmes in the field of gender equality, reducing the risks and consequences of violence against women by improving prevention, protection, and victim support systems at the local level, and enhancing women’s political and public representation at the local level by supporting active participation in decision-making processes, building leadership capacities, and establishing support networks.
