Nemanja Starović is the new Minister for European Integration in the Government of Serbia, having moved to this role from the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs.
He succeeded Tanja Miščević in this ministerial position. Miščević was the Head of Serbia’s Negotiating Team for EU accession talks from 2013, and served as Minister for European Integration from 2022 to 2024.
According to his official biography, Nemanja Starović was born on May 9, 1982, in Novi Sad, which means he will soon turn 42.
He graduated from Gymnasium in Sremski Karlovci and earned a Master’s degree in History from the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad in 2011. In 2013, he completed the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.
He was State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2021 to 2022, and again from October 2022 to May 2024.
He served as Director of the Regional Development Agency "Bačka Ltd." in Novi Sad from 2016 to 2018, and as Deputy Director from 2018 to 2021.
From 2014 to 2016, he worked as an associate in the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
Assistant to the Mayor
In the City of Novi Sad, he was a member of the City Council in charge of education from 2011 to 2012, Assistant to the Mayor in 2012, and City Council member in charge of urban planning and environmental protection from 2012 to 2013.
He is the author of a collection of historical essays titled The Middle East, Briefly and Clearly (2014), and of the novels On the Other Side (2016) and Divided City (2018).
He is also the creator of the show "Ino-strane", which airs on the First Program of RTV Vojvodina.
He is a full member of Matica Srpska and the Association of Writers of Serbia.
He speaks English, is married, and is a father of three.
