The tranche of funds from the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans allocated to North Macedonia amounts to €52.4 million, which is seven percent of the total financial assistance for the country, estimated at around €750 million, Minister Murtezani told reporters, as reported by the Beta news agency.
He emphasized that the payment was based on a pre-financing request that he, as the national coordinator for the Reform Agenda, submitted to the European Commission in November last year.
"This makes North Macedonia the first country in the region to receive these funds after completing all the necessary steps, including finalizing the legal procedures and ensuring that both the Loan Agreement and the Grant Agreement came into effect," said Murtezani.
He also highlighted another significant development related to the Reform Agenda: on 14 March, Skopje became the first in the region to submit a request to the European Commission for the release of €17.1 million for the implementation of specific reform measures within the designated timeframe.
"The request outlines activities that were completed by December 2024, and the European Commission has extended the deadline until February 2025," Murtezani added.
