The United Kingdom strongly supports Serbia's progress on its European path, the British ambassador Edward Ferguson told EUpravo Zato.

EUmeter can serve not only political actors, but also citizens and the media, and the British Ambassador, Edward Ferguson, shared his thoughts with us.
They had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the platform at the recently held Beltalks 2026 forum in Belgrade, supported by the WMG Foundation, with EUpravo Zato serving as a media partner.
"I have only had a brief look at it, but I must say that, even as a diplomat who is paid in a way to deal with these issues, the European Union accession process is rather complicated. Therefore, I think that anything that can contribute to demystifying or simplifying that process - so that citizens can understand not only the progress being made, but also why these reforms are important and how they can improve their lives and the functioning of Serbia and its institutions - is very positive. The second thing I like is that the platform introduces an element of competition, as it ranks all EU candidate countries against one another. Hopefully, this will allow us to see how different countries are progressing, and that could encourage politicians to implement even more reforms and move further and faster," pointed out the British Ambassador to Serbia, Edward Ferguson.
According to him, following Brexit, the United Kingdom is not a decision-maker in Brussels, but it nevertheless closely monitors Serbia's progress towards European integration and strongly supports it.
"From my perspective, I will certainly share the platform with my team at the embassy. We will try to understand how we can use it in our own analyses. I am sure my colleagues in EU capitals will do the same," he added.
The platform was designed and realised by the WMG Foundation within the framework of the EUpravo Zato initiative, in cooperation with a team of European integration experts.
