Minister Spiropali said that the European Commission sees Albania as a country where "promises and commitments are turned into actions". At the same time, Commissioner Kos assessed that Albania is among the most successful countries in the enlargement group.
On October 27, Albania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, met with the European Commissioner for Enlargement,Marta Kos. They discussed the pace of negotiations, progress in reforms, and Albania's expectations on its European path.
In a statement, Minister Spiropali said that the European Commission sees Albania as a country where "promises and commitments are turned into actions", which can be seen through the implementation of the new Growth Plan.
Thanks to structural reforms in the areas of competitiveness, sustainable development, economic integration, energy, and digitalization, the European Commission recently paid Albania 100 million euros under this instrument.
Later, Spiropali and Kos visited the Enlargement Wall in the Commissioner's office, which shows each country's progress towards membership in the EU enlargement process.
Commissioner Kos stated then that one country stands out for its extraordinary success.
"As you can see, Albania is among the most successful countries in the enlargement group, with almost all clusters open except the last one. With your help, Minister, we hope to change that last cluster from red to yellow by November," she added.
Marta Kos also praised Albania's ambition to conclude EU membership negotiations by 2027, as well as the country's achievements under the Growth Plan, calling them an example for the region.
Standing in front of the Enlargement Wall, Minister Spiropali said that Albania's progress reflects the "vocation of the Albanian people", which she characterized as the most pro-European people.
She pointed out that Albania views enlargement as a process based on merit and reforms.
Finally, Spiropali reiterated Albania's full commitment to meeting EU standards.
"We understand that this is not a bureaucratic process, but a transformative one. Albania has always been a European country, and now it is ready to stand with Europe within the Union," said the minister.
