The Government of Montenegro has adopted all negotiating positions and submitted to the European Commission reports on the fulfillment of the closing benchmarks for all remaining chapters in the EU accession negotiations, Minister Maida Gorčević announced.

The minister emphasized that this represents "the fulfillment of the word given both to citizens and to European partners that we would complete our part of the job on time."

"This moment of political and institutional importance is also the greatest step forward in Montenegro’s European integration, as it covers 33 negotiating chapters, 98 closing benchmarks, almost 1,000 reform activities, and a many-years-long process of demonstrating the application of European standards," she said in a post on the social network X.

By the end of the year, the evaluation by European institutions and the decisions of member states are expected, as well as the procedure for closing the remaining 12 chapters.

"We are continuing with clear goals and deadlines: completing the negotiations in 2026, signing the Accession Treaty in 2027, and Montenegro’s membership in the European Union in 2028," she added.
